Providing life-changing opportunities to youth in Union County
Our Spring Gala, Dancin' in the Clover, is the 4-H Foundation's Signature Event. Each year a select group of notable Union County residents participate in a friendly ballroom dance competition. This year the event will have local "celebrities": Chris Plate, Anita Simpson, Ben & Ingrid Corpuz, Travis Honeycutt, Hank & Carly Howie, JR & Debra Hasty, Madeline Carico & Michael Staton, Denise White and Jared Hill. Each celebrity is paired with a professional dance instructor from the area who provides 10 weeks of instruction to help their team try to swing, cha-cha, rhumba and waltz their way to the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy! This years contestants will be assisted by professional instructors Terri Beeson, Stacy Yergens, Paul Montagnese, Barbie Parker, Julian Parker & Sebastian Wrenn.
"Celebrity" judges this year included Sheriff Eddie Cathey, Barbara Faulk of the Union County Community Arts Council and Dr. Mike Yoder, Associate Director & Program Leader 4-H at NC State Cooperative Extension. We are excited to have Mike Lutes, President Carolinas Healthcare System, emcee our 2018 event.
In addition to the competition, there will be heavy hors d'oeuvres, an open bar and a dance party featuring Skate Rink Jukebox following the competition.
Our financial goal this year is $60,000. The funds raised at this event become scholarships for summer camps, leadership building conferences, state conferences, 4-H Congress and other opportunities for 4-H members and other youth in Union County who need financial assistance.
