Our Spring Gala, Dancin' in the Clover, is the 4-H Foundation's Signature Event.  Each year a select group of notable Union County residents participate in a friendly ballroom dance competition. This year the event will have local "celebrities": Anita Simpson, Baxter Starnes, Clara Wiggins, Corey Cohen, Michael Staton, Daija Sams, Jerry Simpson, Christa Tyson, Ellie Bragg & Lynn Raye, Martha Smith Allen, Sharon Hager, Angela Helms, Amanda Price & Jacob Forbis, Linda Geer and Mark & Jewell Watson. Each celebrity is paired with a professional dance instructor from the area who provides 10 weeks of instruction to help their team try to swing, cha-cha, rhumba and waltz their way to the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy! This years contestants will be assisted by professional instructors Terri Beeson, Stacy Yergens, Paul Montagnese, Max Maleshko, Pasha Antonovich and Karolina Szpiech.

"Celebrity" judges this year included Bonita Simpson of Bonita's School of Ballet, Barbara Faulk of the Union County Community Arts Council and Dr. Mike Yoder, Associate Director & Program Leader 4-H at NC State Cooperative Extension. We are excited to have Mike Lutes, President Atrium Health, emcee our 2019 event.

In addition to the competition, there will be heavy hors d'oeuvres, an open bar and a dance party featuring Free Freight following the competition.

Our financial goal this year is $60,000.  The funds raised at this event become scholarships for summer camps, leadership building conferences, state conferences, 4-H Congress and other opportunities for 4-H members and other youth in Union County who need financial assistance.
