Spring Gala - Dancin' in the Clover
What an amazing night! An supportive crowd and a group of local celebrities raised more than $60,000 this year at our 9th Annual Spring Gala - Dancin' in the Clover, held held Saturday, March 17th at the Union County Agricultural & Conference Center! Chris Plate and his partner Stacy Yergens took home the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy after dancing a fun jive to "Footloose". Our 2nd Place Trophy went to Denise White, of Atrium Healthcare & her partner Julian Parker while 4-H'rs Madeline Carico & Michael Staten (instructed by Terri Beeson) took 3rd. Chris Plate was also named Top Fundraiser! Denise White & Julian Parker were this years' People's Choice Winners!
Each spring a select group of notable Union County residence participate in a friendly ballroom dance. This year the event had local celebrities: Chris Plate (Stacy Yergens), Denise White (Julian Parker), JR & Debra Hasty (Terri Beeson), Travis Honeycutt (Barbie Parker), Anita Simpson (Paul Montagnese), Ben & Ingrid Corpuz (Barbie Parker), Madeline Carico & Michael Staten (Terri Beeson), Jared Hill (Terri Beeson) and Hand & Carley Howie (Pasha Antonovich). Celebrity judges included Sheriff Eddie Cathey, Barbara Faulk, of the Union Co. Community Arts Council and Dr. Mike Yoder, NC 4-H. Our event was emceed by Mike Lutes of Atrium Healthcare.
Each celebrity is paired with a professional dance instructor from the area who provides 10 weeks of instruction to help their team try to swing, cha-cha, rhumba and waltz their way to the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy!
The funds raised at this event become scholarships for summer camps, leadership building conferences, state conferences, 4-H Congress and other opportunities for 4-H members and other youth in Union County who need financial assistance.
