Spring Gala - Dancin' in the Clover

What an amazing night! A sold-out crowd and a group of local celebrities raised more than $50,000 this year at the 7th Annual Spring Gala - Dancin' in the Clover held Saturday, March 19th at the Rolling Hills Country Club! Bonita Simpson and her partner Joel Paulus took home the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy after dancing a beautiful Waltz to the song "Moon River" and a very fun rendition of "You're the One That I Want" from the movie Grease. Our 2nd Place Trophy went to Mike Lutes, President of Carolina's Healthcare System - Union & Terri Beeson and 3rd to Jonathan Thomas, of Pruitt Health - Union Pointe & Zenaida Chandler. In addition, Jonathan was named Top Fundraiser!
Each spring a select group of notable Union County residence participate in a friendly ballroom dance. This year the event had local celebrities: Olivia Coleman & Garrett Henry, Amy & Roger Stanton, Taura Napier & Matt DeForrest, Mike Lutes, Jonathan Thomas, Melinda Plue, Bonita Simpson, Angel & Patrick Tyson and Penny Hefner. Celebrity judges included Rep. Dean Arp, Sheriff Eddie Cathey and Barbara Faulk, of the Union Co. Community Arts Council. Our event was emceed by Rep. Craig Horn.
Each celebrity is paired with a professional dance instructor from the area who provides 10 weeks of instruction to help their team try to swing, cha-cha, rhumba and waltz their way to the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy!
The funds raised at this event become scholarships for summer camps, leadership building conferences, state conferences, 4-H Congress and other opportunities for 4-H members and other youth in Union County who need financial assistance.
