Our Judges

Our Spring Gala Event, Dancin' in the Clover, the 4-H Foundation's Signature Event will be held on Saturday, March 21st at Union County Agricultural & Conference Center in Monroe, NC. Each year a select group of notable Union County residents participate in a friendly ballroom dance competition. This year, the event will feature the adult and junior division. This year the event will have local "celebrities":  Jeff Atkinson, Cress & Blake Barnes, Kathleen Boring, Julie Broome, David & Sandy Helms, and Cameron & Aubrey Price. The junior division “celebrities” feature Madison Evans & Kyle Stokes, Bella Kassis & Isaac Coleman, and Kristen Moser & Kiser Shelton.  

Each celebrity is paired with a professional dance instructor from the area who provides 10 weeks of instruction to help their team try to swing, cha-cha, rhumba and waltz their way to the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy!

​"Celebrity" judges this year included Assistant Program Leader of 4-H & FCS at NC State University and Union County 4-H Alumna Dr. Mitzi Downing, Bonita Simpson of Bonita’s School of Ballet, and Barbara Faulk of the Union County Community Arts Council.  We are excited to have Mike Lutes, President of Atrium Health emcee the event again in 2020.

In addition to the competition, there will be musical entertainment by LTD.

Our financial goal this year is $50,000.  The funds raised at this event become scholarships for summer camps, leadership building conferences, state conferences, 4-H Congress and other opportunities for 4-H members and other youth in Union County who need financial assistance.

​The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:00 p.m.
​
